For authorsThere are two major factors that determine a manuscript's chances at being published in a prestigious journal:

Effective Medical Reading & Effective Biomedical Writing intensive residential courses organized at your institute |
|
Common practice is to share the draft manuscript with colleagues (who also have little time and experience) and
then to send the manuscript for editing by a linguist. If this editor does not have biomedical research experience, the
end result will be a manuscript that is linguistically correct but not scientifically comprehensible. This, in fact, is the case of
many manuscripts that we revise at pre-publication editing for several specialty medical journals. A fully personalized service. The extent to which a manuscript needs revision depends on the authors' writing skills. Some manuscripts seem to require only a linguistic refinement (Regular Editing), but in these cases we also perform a scientific "quality control" to check for internal consistency. Often, we rework and reorganize the manuscript to improve the communication of results (Scientific Editing) and sometimes we rewrite the text in a natural English language or carry out a full scientific overhaul. Some authors prefer to let us plan and draft the manuscript starting from their notes and statistical reports (Medical Writing), and then we work with authors until the manuscript is ready for publishing. Large research groups with heavy publishing loads may wish to integrate a Team Research Writer into their equipes, for assistance and strategic guidance at all phases of the editorial process.
